Nancy Lynch from MIT has been awarded this (one and half) year's Knuth Prize for her work in reliability of distributed computing. I remember first hearing about her work when I studied distributed computing and Byzantine agreement problems back in IITK.
This has been a good (and well deserved) year for women in computing: first Frances Allen, and now Nancy Lynch.
