A 'Nixon going to China' moment

Via Mathematics under the Microscope, the IMA-commissioned report on the validity of citation statistics as a means for measuring quality. It seems appropriate that this sentence was written (and methinks, could only be written) by mathematicians:
"Numbers are not inherently superior to sound judgments"
